Virtual Map Explorer

I don’t know about you all, but what else does a MWC (married with children) Sacramentan do on a hot Friday night when the bank account is a little low? Why, surf the web of course! So I did just that, clicking on the “Select a Random City” section of Metroblogging and I ended up “in” Islamabad . Not only did it take me a few minutes to navigate (thanks to the Arabic appearance of the city name–which strangely enough disappeared when I went back to the site), but I found a cool blog post there of the satellite photo of the city.

Being inquisitive by nature, I had to check out my hometown of Sac, and so, a few clicks of mousie over here and there we were!

Then I had to check out my specific ‘hood, because, well…just because! The best part of map exploration is finding places you’ve lived or want to see. Don’t you think?

When I looked at the satellite photo, a recurring thought came to mind. A lot of talk about increasing the local sales tax has been going on–so we Sacramentans can help rich people build a new sports arena. I, for one, am more interested in keeping the levees nice and strong. Maybe you should take a look-see at why I feel that way.
Pocket is close to the river, people!

Don’t tell me my pennies are better off poured into a new sports arena…spend ‘em where we need ‘em! Fix the levees! After all, New Orleans has a Superdome, and what good was that, anyway?

If the first give-away at the new arena were water wings, would you feel better?

    ;)
