Marcos Breton Reads Sac Metroblog… Well, Maybe

Building off these two previous posts, let’s talk more about the Kings and a potential new arena. (Why do I get the distinct feeling this is going to be a recurring theme on these pages in the next few months? years?)

Based on his column in the Bee this morning, it looks like Marcos Breton read my last post comparing a new Kings arena with a new 49ers stadium. We here at the Sacramento Metroblog could only hope we’re having such an impact on the city as to have the Bee pulling stories from us. Probably, he just saw the same interesting little juxtaposition that I saw.

Not having read Marcos Breton before seeing your blog, why do I get the distinct feeling he was whining in his last paragraph? Waah, we may not be guaranteed another franchise if we don’t vote yes on this ballot initiative. If the Kings move out….? Then what? I guess San Francisco will have more customers at their games.

I’m not actually a big Breton fan, but I doubt he was whining in his last paragraph. But it sure does seem to me that he favors the new arena plan – sort of. Certainly others at the Bee do (Ailene Voisin comes to mind) and I wouldn’t be surprised if the sentiment isn’t largely shared through much of the newsroom. If nothing else, covering the Kings (and covering an election battle over building a new arena) sells papers.
