THE MONKEY BARS SCARED ME TOO
As a kid, I always dreaded going to the local playground and having to face the demon that is known as the MONKEY BARS. Not being an athletic kid, I always made excuses to hang by the slides or swngs and avoid the pitiful display of my lack of upper body strength…
I am a firm believer that every kid should face this same humiliation, and am afraid that several hundred Natomas area children will not get to do so without your help!
During the evening of June 26, 2006, arsonists burned down the Fort Natomas playground. Undeterred, the Sacramento Community is coming together to raise money and recruit volunteers to rebuild the beloved playground.
The Design Day is Saturday JULY 22nd and community input (especially from kids) is needed!
Schedule of events:
9:00 a.m.: Meet with Playground Designer from Leather’s and Associates
11:00 a.m.: Community Barbeque with Sacramento Fire Department
7:00 p.m.: Your NEW Playground REVEALED!
Location: Natomas High School, 3301 Fong Ranch Road, Sacramento, CA 95833 (off of San Juan and Truxel)
To read more about the project, please visit Fort Natomas.
Please help out so all kids can experience the joy of static cling from a slide, the feeling of nausea from the swings, and the agony of falling off the monkey bars again and again!!!
