If there’s anything more popular in Sac than Rising Dough, I don’t know what it is

Okay, so National Geographic thinks some cookie named after a natural disaster is the top Sacramento baked good? I personally don’t trust magazines things in yellow boxes, so NG can stuff that cookie in its mouth and suck it - because I’ve got the skinny on the best cookie in this county.

If you’ve been by Jamba Juice lately - or a number of other select retailers - you may have noticed among their mostly over-priced and caloried treats a plump, attractive looking biscuit from Rising Dough Bakery. The package says Low Fat, but don’t be fooled, this is not your usual sawdust-tasting, misleadingly-labeled disappointment. This cookies the Real Deal.

Low Fat cookies will always taste a bit different than the fully leaded stuff - but trust me, you won’t miss anything when you tuck into a fresh chocolate chip cookie from this hometown bakery - located between Sacto and Elk Grove. They retail for around $1.50 and at around 180 Calories a cookie, they are the perfect indulgence for when your sweet tooth just won’t quit aching for attention.

Try some for yourself - either from one of their retailers or go nuts and order their sample box for first-timers online.

Personally, I think the classic chocolate chip is the best, followed by their Ginger Spice cookie. Oatmeal cranberry is better than the oatmeal chocolate chip. Their Cafe Mocha cookie is made with real coffee and tastes like what you’d expect coffee grounds would taste like - but in a good way (try it and that statement will make sense).

Here, here! (Seriously - send those things over here. They’re flippin’ delicious.)

    Hooray, rising dough!

WORD…these are SUPER yummy…and it’s pretty cool they’re home grown! I LOVE the Oatmeal Choc Chip and the Double Choc Chip (if they still make it).
