Not like “Hell’s Kitchen”
This may be old news for some of you, but I just picked up the cooking class schedule at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op today, and…they have a Chinese Food cooking series that looks really intriguing! I’m not sure why, but the “Kitchen Series” is not on the web, so here’s a little more info.
You can take a series of three Monday night classes (6:30-8:30 PM) beginning October 9, and each night will feature specific Chinese recipes. My fave of the three nights is next Monday–”Chinese Favorites” -Crispy spring rolls, Szechwan eggplant, wonton soup, minced chicken in lettuce cups, and almond cookies. Sounds tasty, eh? Chinese not your bag? They have loads of holiday cooking classes (read, pie!), as well as Thai and French and …wine tasting meals as well.
Give the Sac Co Op a call (916) 455-2667 for more info, or grab one of the class schedules when you shop there next time. The prices aren’t too bad for the classes. If you’re a Co Op owner already, you get a discount.

I haven’t been to a class yet, but I was impressed enough to bookmark it a while ago. The latest classes should be here: http://www.sacfoodcoop.com/pages/classes/class_sched.htm
Did you see that they are offering one of these Chinese Food classes for free? At least, when I was there two days ago, I saw a sign advertising it.
I keep wanting to do this for a team-building thing with my co-workers. We’re all into the organic food thing so it would be a perfect fit.
I enrolled my daughter in a class last December. It was a lot of fun and she was able to get right in there and cook. I don’t know if the grown up classes are the same.
The on-line version didn’t have the Chinese cooking–at least I couldn’t find it!
Oh and Jason, I think we missed the free Chinese cooking demo class on 10/2. They have a demo class coming up at the Elk Grove store on 10/14–”Festive Finger Foods”…for free…say that five times fast!
