MB Hat Trick: This town, That town, Their guy
Stick with me - this is a bit of a reach.
As Jamus reminded me on the Graz welcome post, our illustrious Governor and part-time Sacramentan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is from Graz. His image is also being used in one small English town to promote “Arnie’s Sarnies” - a sandwich shop on a sleepy side street (it’s not in London, but they’d be MB city number 3 in this post, since they have to rep the whole country by themselves!).

Arnie! There! In a sandwich window! Whatta guy!

What in tarnation is a “Sarnie”? I suspect I am undereducated on that one.
“Sarnie” is just brit-slang for “sandwich.”
As ever - we’re two countries separated by a common language.
True. I always thought “beetroot” was a ridiculous thing to call beets!!
When you say beets do you mean sugar beet, feed beet or beetroot, or perhaps you are refering to one of the leaf beets?!
Here in the uk we only really sell beetroot in the shops so when you refer to beet we would probably think of the sugar beet crop.
Still I’m off to the shops to get some sweets - perhaps some smarties, polos or sherbert dib-dabs - crisps, biscuits, aubergine, courgette, swede, and fizzy drinks. And for my tea on such a cold autumn night perhaps some nice hot fish and chips.
Toodle pip!

LOL John! I’m thinking aubergine is what we call eggplant? Beetroot would be the purple sugar beets… :D
For a country whose French-hate makes ours look like a joke, I’ve also found it odd that the English cling to the tres French aubergine and courgette rather than going with eggplant and zucchini.
And John - your shopping list sounds frighteningly similar to what RN would pick up. Except he’d skip the veggies.
