Our favorite local coanchors

Did anyone else know this? One of my favorite local anchor teams, comprised of Dave Walker and Lois Hart on Channel 3 (KCRA), are married! And they’ve BEEN married for over 20 years! This, according to a recent article about the chemistry, and sometimes, the lack thereof, between anchors on local TV news stations.

The article identifies other local anchor teams – but does NOT mention my absolute favorite news duo: Good Day Sacramento’s Marianne McClary and Nick Toma. In fact, all the crew on Good Day are fabu; but as far as chemistry goes, these two are terrific together. Without a doubt my favorite.

But that’s just one gal’s opinion; who is your favorite local anchor team?

The article also discusses the tense working conditions that can develop between two anchors who just cannot seem to get along. One example involving another married anchor team took place in 2000, in Boston. After 25 years of marriage, coanchors Natalie Jacobson and Chet Curtis decided to get divorced – but get this, they nevertheless thought they could continue to work together as an anchor team.

It lasted 8 months. (This is approximately 8 months longer than I would have given them, if I were a betting woman.) Apparently the tension between the two was so obvious, the show’s audience started to dwindle.

Another great example is available for all of us to enjoy on YouTube. I won’t reveal the details – but for those of us who grew up in Southern California, particularly near/around Los Angeles, you may remember this team that has since split up to go work for rival local news stations. Just check this out: here.

I really enjoy Dave and Lois–they’re probably my favorites. But I like KCRA in general–they seem more sincere than the other stations (and FORGET FOX!!!!!!!)
