Standoff puts crimp in Home Tour Plans, Candy Cane

Seems there’s some kind of police standoff in East Sac right now that has taken at least one of the Holiday Home Tour houses off the schedule until it’s resolved. Bah-humbug.

Update: Local news is reporting that this thing is now resolved. (It’s 8PM)

I got a really close up view of police responding to this scene. I was heading home via Folsom Blvd and got diverted just before 39th Street. Let me assure everyone that there was NO way anyone could have gone ANYWHERE without the police knowing about it. They were everywhere.

    And I’m glad.

Yup - got diverted the same - but going in the opposite direction. Someone in my office had said 33d and Folsom, not 38th and Folsom - big difference. When we started the home tour, we were told SWAT had just rushed the house (they didn’t beat down any doors - we passed the place which appeared unscathed). By the time we reached what we thought would be our last stop, we were told we could get to the final home again. All was quiet on the eastern front again.

It was the house on the NW corner of 39th and Folsom - large, formerly peach-colored, recently redone jobber. Huge. A local news guy said 12,000 sqft, that seems big. The kid was huddled in the basement. Not anymore . . .

House tour was FANTASTIC though - highly recommended.
