Run, you miserable bastard!
And with that term of endearment, my [Calistoga-Santa Cruz] relay team mates cheered each other on during our long haul down the coast. I’ve been waiting for the right time to use it for a post title.
This isn’t really that time, but I’m using it anyway.
For those of you who watched CIM last weekend and thought “hell, I can do that, ” or “no way in hell I can do that,” you might want to check out SacFit - a local running program for those who want to try their hand, er, feet, at distance running without the stress of fundraising or a program that takes itself too seriously - you know, the kind with the scary runners who go real fast. SacFit has runners and walkers of all speeds and dimensions.
I attempted to join the program as it prepared for CIM, but having arrive in Sac 6 weeks into their season left me out in the heat of summer. If freezing is your bag, their winter season starts January 6 and runs for 17 weeks for a bargain $79. The group meets Saturday mornings at 8:30 at William Pond Park and, from the one run I did attend last summer I can attest to their open, friendly vibe.
You can run or walk a marathon or half marathon. Trust me. Go try it, you might like it.

Cool! I ran in a similar relay race from La Crosse, WI to St. Paul, MN in August and that was super fun. I had wondered if there were many more events like this around the country.
