Where would Santa shop in Sacramento?
I’ve exhausted most of my go-to destinations for gifts (Arden Fair, Downtown Plaza, Amazon.com), and–running short on ideas–I’m hoping I can fill the voids on my list with treats from the Capital City. I thought I’d start with a little research online before venturing out and was overwhelmed at the number of local stores just in Midtown over at Midtowngrid.com. Can anyone recommend places to go from experience? I’m not shopping for clothing at this point, so that narrows the field a bit. Bonus points for places that sell locally made items over locally themed items (I’m more interested in something crafted by a Sacramentan rather than “California” shot glasses or Governator bobbleheads).
What types of goods are you looking for…? Lots o’choices in midtown.
Need something for the aunt & uncle who have everything.
Wildflower Boutique (H & Alhambra), Swanberg’s (J St btw 23rd/24th), Choice’s (23rd/J), University Art (26th & J).
And to package it all up, I can’t say enough good things about Pulp Papery (also at H & Alhambra).
But don’t blame me if you end up with stuff for yourself too. I always do.
I second the recommendation for “Choice’s” on J…I buy gifts for my grandmother there every year. I also like the Solar Syndicate in Old Sacramento; and Zanzibar Trading Company is simply fantastic for home accents/jewelry/crafts from all over the world (I’m partial to the Maorian jewelry); but for local artistry, the Artist’s Collaborative Gallery is the way to go. It used to be housed in Old Sac and had to move to 910 15th Street. http://www.artcollab.com/
