Dry as a bone: your local levees
It’s official–the “winter crisis that never was”–no rain, no flooding. No levee breach.

Don’t throw away your flood plans, however. Keep the boat, keep the supplies on hand. Yes, you CAN buy “emergency” food supplies at your local Costco. Pretty soon everyone will be living like the Mormons do and preparing for the famine. Keep your duct tape handy and your battery powered radio fresh. Just because Tom Brokaw isn’t talking about it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Too bad so many levees are still in disrepair. Perhaps we can get them done before next winter. I don’t think anyone in Pocket wants to see a real-time enactment of the NOLA fiasco. And they STILL haven’t cleaned NOLA up, as high profile as it is. How long do you think it would take to clean up Sacramento?

“And they STILL haven’t cleaned NOLA up”
Who exactly is “they”?
Come on Aaron, you read the news as well as I do. Everyone except for the rich whose houses are already back. The all-inclusive “THEY”.
Yes, the rich white houses of people like Dr. Paul Gailiunas and filmmaker Helen Hill, right?
I checked out the Helen Hill reference. Why bring her up? She was murdered–one in a long line of murders. What does that have to do with rebuilding New Orleans? We can talk about the state of the city and say “not good.” As far as I know, as an armchair news reader, the only restoration that has happened has been in wealthier and commercial districts. But if you have better information than I do, feel free to elaborate.
