Battle of the Bands and 100.5 THE ZONE’s Day in the Park

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to go and check out the Battle of the Bands sponsored by Skip’s Music and 100.5 THE ZONE at the Powerhouse Pub in Folsom…who could ever pass up an opportunity like that? Actually, my friend is friends with some of the guys from Nine Hours North and we went to cheer them on!

The finals pitted Nine Hours North vs. The Generals vs. Round 3 fight….all the bands were good, but I would encourage you to vote for Nine Hours North…they got perfect scores from the judges and put on a really good show!
The winner of the Battle of the Bands will get to play at A DAY IN THE ZONE, the station’s annual summer concert.
Looks like Smashmouth, Mat Kearney, Augustana, and Five for Fighting are on the line-up too!

Yes, Nine Hours North is a very good band, BUT they were originally defeated in the semi-finals by Round Three Fight. Somehow The Zone brought them back for the finals. The Zone’s Battle of the Bands is rigged – we’ve heard it before from other bands. They change the rules of the game as they go along. The Zone either needs to conduct a fair competition, or get out of the Battle of the Bands business.

Did anyone stick around to the end for the judges decision for the semi final round?? I know for a fact that no one from R3F did. I must inform you the death metal band from Folsom had one of the most raucous crowds i’d ever seen in a bar especially for a weds in Old Folsom. As it was explained to some prior to the judges decision was that it was a TIE between Nine Hours North and new found glo.. I mean R3F and the station representatives on site were not ready to inform a hostile crowd every band was a winner except theirs. Most certainly it was a river of misinformation given from the zone as to the parameters of the contest.
