Edify Yourself

Tomorrow is free museum day. You may be like me and wonder what some of the local museums have to offer, but you don’t want to pay the entry fee. Or perhaps you just have too many interests altogether, and maybe you want to museum hop. Or not. In any case, the 10th annual event will be from 10 am to 4 pm and 25 sites will be participating in the day of free-ness.

A few participating sites that might be good to check out:
Explorit in Davis
Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park
The Sacramento Discovery Museum
Sutter’s Fort (one of my personal favorites–but may be muddy if there’s rain)
Aerospace Museum (at McClellan)

Some sites that will be free that you may want to check out another time:

Crocker Art Museum – Crocker has a weekly free admission on Sundays between 10 AM and 1 PM that isn’t so crowded.
Sacramento Zoo – they always get overcrowded on the free days. If you like large, elbow-happy crowds, then by all means go, but you may enjoy the zoo better on a day you pay admission.

There are lots of other interesting museums to see, and a list of them is here. If you think you’ve seen it all, have you actually been to the pharmacy museum or the Ag History museum in Woodland? I sure haven’t, and at these prices, I must say I am sorely tempted.
