Take your life in your hands…

…and try to cross the street in midtown at lunch time on a workday.

I actually had a woman in a white SUV speed up after stopping so she could cross the crosswalk in front of me. She waved as she went by.

I wish I could carry a paintball gun and splat her white car with dark red paint. That’s the color she wants smeared and sticky on her front bumper, the way she’s driving.

In fact, if I had a paintball gun, at least three vehicles would have been splatted today–but hers I would have taken pleasure in splatting, all over the front windshield, all over her smug, rude face.

Perhaps one of the famous 3rd Street crows will splat her for me. Imagining this tribute makes me smile.

I Voted

Did you?

It seemed pretty quiet at my midtown polling place this morning. A handful of people were voting or getting their ballots, but no major lines forming yet. A friend who is working at a polling place in Land Park reports that things are pretty slow there as well. Expect much higher traffic this evening however, as most people hit the booth on the way home after work.

Can’t remember where to vote? Just click here to look it up.

Don’t forget: if you have an absentee ballot still in your hands, DON’T PUT IT IN THE MAIL TODAY! Instead, take it your polling place or any polling place within the county and drop it in the box.

And don’t forget: if you registered late or for some unknown reason your name isn’t on the list at what you believe is your polling place, you HAVE THE RIGHT TO CAST A PROVISIONAL BALLOT always. Just don’t try to cast more than one.

Happy Democracy-ing all!

Edify Yourself

Tomorrow is free museum day. You may be like me and wonder what some of the local museums have to offer, but you don’t want to pay the entry fee. Or perhaps you just have too many interests altogether, and maybe you want to museum hop. Or not. In any case, the 10th annual event will be from 10 am to 4 pm and 25 sites will be participating in the day of free-ness.

A few participating sites that might be good to check out:
Explorit in Davis
Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park
The Sacramento Discovery Museum
Sutter’s Fort (one of my personal favorites–but may be muddy if there’s rain)
Aerospace Museum (at McClellan)

Some sites that will be free that you may want to check out another time:
