Pizza and Beer

Both add up to good times in a college town. That’s especially true for Woodstock Pizza in Davis.

Before that – I want to give folks a heads up about pairing beer with a good cause. This afternoon, Sudwerk’s hosting a Beerfest. It’s a Celebration of All Things Beer. You can taste brews from Northern and Central Cali breweries. There’s also food, live music and the tours of the Sudwerk Brewery. Best of all, the ticket sales go to the non-profit group: “Citizens Who Care.” I’m thinking about going. How about you?

Woodstock in Davis
Let’s go back to Woodstock…

After another long week in the newsroom, it feels great to head over the Yolo Causeway and hang out in this college town. I like waiting for my pizza inside the bar, watching a ball game with a pint of brewy goodness. According to my hubby, the bartender was hip to the hot hoppy action in Mendocino County.

Causeway Classic

Meet the Causeway Classic. It’s great for meat lovers. I also suspect it’s a bit of a nightmare for vegans.

Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Salami, Black Olives, ‘Shrooms, Extra Cheese – from the Woodstock Pizza Parlor Menu

This pie has a hearty blend of meat plus a little tang from the olives and mushrooms. Pairs nicely with an IPA, Ale, Stout and any other beer of your fancy.

Garlic Bread w/Cheese

I also like the garlic bread with cheese. Woodstock has a fantastic, dense, crust. For carb-fans like me, it just makes sense to add garlic and cheese to the doughy goodness.

What’s your favorite pizza pie?

The photos alone are enticing me to drive up to Davis from San Jose.
