Favorite Restaurants?

I had dinner with some friends in the bay area this weekend. One friend told me that his father had an upcoming 6 month assignment at the UCD Medical Center, and they would need to find good restaurants in Sacramento.

I eat out pretty frequently now, but usually not at “restaurants;” more like “taco stands,” delicious taco stands. So I was trying to rack my brain and come up with good quality restaurants befitting of a classy visitor. I came up with a few, and mentioned that there seems to be sushi about every third block in midtown now.

But the whole conversation got me thinking about my favorite restaurants in town, and I thought I’d ask all of you dear readers for your favorites.

Just to get rolling, here are some of my favorites:

Tres Hermanas
El Novillero
Carolinas (delicious taco stand)

Can you tell I love Mexican food? I love other kinds too, and other restaurants too, such as:

Frank Fat’s
Zelda’s Pizza
Cafe Marika
The Bread Store

So Sacramento, what are your favorite restaurants?

Whenever I am home in Sacramento, Dos Coyotes is the first place I head. The East has no good Border food at all, it’s so frustrating!

I heard good things about Biba Italian Restaurant although I’ve never gone there myself. Cheesecake Factory is pretty good and California Cafe is good as well. Those two restaurants are in the Arden Fair area. I know you mentioned that there are too many sushi places in Sac but Tokyo Fro’s never fails to amaze me.

I think Jack’s is always a good choice…the urban fires are AMAZING!! I also always like Ink…they have a good breakfast AND lunch/dinner menu…If you like mexican food, try Los Jarritos on Broadway…SO good and really inexpensive!!!

I have never been to the restaurant but I have had the food from “Chateau: A Shot of Class” many times (long story) and it is awesome. The chef and staff are great people. They were handpicked by the Gov to handle some of his catering (whatever that means.)
